Between them they have played with artists from Led Zeppelin to the Chieftains, Elvis Costello, In Tua Nua, Riverdance, and Mamady Keita, and in concert, chamber and baroque orchestras around the world, on more than 150 albums, in more than 50 countries. They have played every style of venue and festival in Ireland from music bars to concert halls and stadia, and from fleadhs and baroque festivals to Electric Picnics. Their combined experience as professional musicians spans 150 years.

The four members of Amerghin combine that experience to create stunning new compositions and improvisations, which co-exist on their set list with music that is older than most nations.  Whether it is music from the seventeenth century or new music being improvised into existence in front of your ears, Amerghin breathe new life into everything they play.

For Finding a Voice 2024, Amerghin perform music by Máire Breatnach, Irish American fiddler Liz Carroll, Italian baroque composer Isabella Leonarda, French baroque composer Elizabeth Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, West African kora player and composer Sona Jobarte, and composer and harpist Anne-Marie O'Farrell.

Song of Amergin (Irish mythology; date unknown)

“Am gáeth I mmuir ar domni

Am tond trethan i tír

Am fúaim na mara”

“I am the wind on the sea

I am the wave on the land

I am the sound of the sea”
