Erin Hennessey, a violinist and PhD researcher at the Royal Academy of Music in London, has dedicated recent years to studying and performing the music of Irish composer Mary Dickenson-Auner. For this lunchtime concert, she is joined by her friend and fellow violinist Molly O’Shea in a programme for violin duo that places Dickenson-Auner’s Canon—a lyrical and intricately woven dialogue between two instruments—at its heart.The recital also features accessible works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Jessie Montgomery, Kaija Saariaho, and Ethel Smyth, offering a rich mix of styles and voices, from folk-inspired warmth and contemporary energy to evocative soundscapes and suffragette spirit.
