Join violinist Marja Gaynor and flamenco guitarist John Walsh for an exploration of the worlds of baroque, traditional, flamenco and improvised music. By turns finding unexpected affinities and edgy contrasts, the programme ranges from the seventeenth century to contemporary music.

Finnish violinist Marja Gaynor has been based in Cork since 2005, and performs with leading period ensembles, including the Irish Baroque Orchestra. A sought-after arranger and collaborator, her highlights include Dido and Aeneas (Cork Opera House) and playing on Falling Slowly for the Oscar-winning film Once (2008).

John Walsh is Ireland’s leading Flamenco guitarist, known for his dynamic performances and compositions. He has studied with legendary Flamenco masters and performed internationally, including at the Paco de Lucía Festival. His acclaimed debut album Irlandalucía (2020) received widespread national and international acclaim.

From Barbara Strozzi's seventeenth-century song of heartbreak to high-octane contemporary sounds, join this trio for the unexpected meeting place of baroque, flamenco and traditional music.
